Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Roles & Responsibilities:

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for professional clinical services and related tasks for consumers with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disability, serious emotional disturbances (SED), and/or substance use disorders. Services will be provided to children and/or adults in the office face-to-face or virtually upon consumer’s request. PMHNP, is minimally responsible for providing the following: psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews as medically necessary and/or quarterly; evaluate the efficacy of current treatment plan; monitor consumer progress; maintain consumer records; ability to prescribe and/or adjust medications to control symptoms; educate consumers on medication effectiveness, side effects; consult other providers when appropriate, etc.

Qualification & Education Requirements:

Applicant must a board certified PMHNP, with a degree from an accredited university, a minimum of 2 year’s experience, qualified to be a CMHP with 1 year experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families, and state licensed as a Nurse Practitioner. Travel may be required to the TLC Flint location to provide face to face services.

Physical: Standing, support weight other than own, walking, stooping, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, use of telephone, typing, good hearing, good vision, close work, speaking, physical intervention with clients, ability to travel, ability to transport clients.

Mental: Reading, writing, simple arithmetic, analyzes date/report information, works under pressure, rapid decision making, creates methodologies for solving client goals, implements recommendations, pleasant, congenial, calm and courteous, firm, maintains confidentiality, directs activities of others to accomplish a goal.

Environmental: Exposure to general public and aggressive clientele, exposure to clientele with poor health conditions, and poor hygiene.
